I’m injured, will rest just make it go away?

Injury. It’s pretty rubbish. Unfortunately when you get injured, it doesn’t always take the same amount of time to heal, nor does it manifest itself in the same way as it does in others. It’s not the same as a bit on your car or bike breaking down – why is this?   Variables The injured tissue Every different type of body tissue takes different amounts of time to repair. Even in muscles, different bits of muscle take different amounts of time to heal. Have you injured a tendon, the junction between the muscle and the tendon, the main part … Continue reading

Women On Fire Seminar, 12/13 March 2016

One of the hashtags we use is #AlwaysLearning and that was true for the whole weekend for us both. Tim was out on the hills of the Peak District teaching navigation to four people, and Lynne spent Saturday and Sunday at the Woman On Fire weekend. Billed as “A Weekend for Women’s Wellness Warriors” with the esteemed Jenny Burrell, Michelle Lyons, Maria Elliott and Jessica Drummond, it lived up to all the expectations and WOW factor. Spine Mountain Rescue Challenge Talk

We would like to say a BIG thank you to the crowd of people who gathered in Old Glossop last night to hear Tim talk about his experience of running the Spine Mountain Rescue Challenge – 108 miles up the Pennine Way in the depths of winter this January. When we say recovery, we mean things you can do to improve your chances of coming back to the activity stronger, being fitter, preventing injury, improving your overall health, and maximizing the time you do spend lifting weights/running or whatever activity you do. … Continue reading

Raynaud’s and Acupuncture

I developed a condition called ‘Raynaud’s’ at some point in the last few years. Recollection of its onset is blurred, as the symptoms I suffer with are ‘just’ cold hands. Occasionally my feet would have similar and debilitating symptoms, but not that often. These days I have to be completely aware of how warm my whole body is, and especially my hands are, even in a central-heated warm house. I hug hot drink mugs. I volunteer eagerly to wash the pots so my hands are immersed in hot water. I go outside with at least two pairs of gloves most … Continue reading
